The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 3.7% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.5% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 0.19% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 62.86% in September 2021, registering a 17.86% flat growth over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 13.33% share, an increase of 27.27% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 11.43%, registering a 9.09% rise from August 2021.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 6.67%, down 22.22% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 65.79% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s travel & tourism industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

WestJet Airlines posted 20 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 42.86% over the previous month, followed by Air Canada with 15 jobs and a 36.36% growth. Sonder with 10 IT jobs and Expedia Group with 9 jobs, recorded a 100% growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Cineplex recorded an increase of 12.5% with 9 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.62%, up by 33.96% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with an 18.1% share, registered a decline of 20.83% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.29% share, up 36.36% over August 2021.
