Canada’s travel & tourism industry registered a 9.5% drop in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 3.93% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.13% share in July 2022, recording a decrease of 0.18% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 95.52% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s travel & tourism industry in July 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 38.81% in July 2022, registering a 38.1% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 28.36% share, an increase of 72.73% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 16.42%, registering a 37.5% rise from June 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 7.46%, down 37.5% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 72% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s travel & tourism industry during July 2022 over June 2022.

Toronto Transit Commission posted 14 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a rise of 600% over the previous month, followed by The Walt Disney with 10 jobs and a flat growth. Canadian Pacific Railway with 7 IT jobs and WestJet Airlines with 7 jobs, recorded a 36.36% decline and a 16.67% growth, respectively, while Flight Centre Travel Group recorded a decline of 16.67% with 5 job postings during July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.69%, down by 19.23% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 20.9% share, registered a decline of 6.67% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 16.42% share, up 57.14% over June 2022.
