Canada’s travel & tourism industry registered an 8.9% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.95% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.42% share in October 2021, recording an increase of 0.8% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.48% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s travel & tourism industry in October 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 66.39% in October 2021, registering a 12.86% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 10.92% share, an increase of 8.33% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 10.08%, registering a 71.43% rise from September 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 6.72%, down 42.86% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 55.81% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s travel & tourism industry during October 2021 over September 2021.

Flutter Entertainment posted 22 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a rise of 633.33% over the previous month, followed by WestJet Airlines with 15 jobs and a 25% drop. Cineplex with 12 IT jobs and Canadian Pacific Railway with 10 jobs, recorded a 33.33% growth and a 100% growth, respectively, while International Game Technology recorded an increase of 33.33% with 8 job postings during October 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.5%, down by 2.7% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 29.41% share, registered an increase of 84.21% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.4% share, down 33.33% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.68%, recording a month-on-month increase of 100%.
