Europe witnessed a 4.6% drop in IT hiring activity in the travel & tourism industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

September 2022 has seen a decrease of 5.85% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 5.72% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering an increase of 0.21% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 47.96% in September 2022, a 37.35% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 18.65% in September 2022, marking a 25.53% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 15.1% in September 2022, a 4.94% rise from August 2022.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 14.56% in September 2022, a 12.77% decline over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 17.81% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s travel & tourism industry during September 2022 over previous month.

Bally’s posted 77 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a decline of 44.2% over the previous month, followed by Deutsche Lufthansa with 68 jobs and a 1.45% drop. A.P. Moller – Maersk with 65 IT jobs and Deutsche Bahn with 57 jobs, recorded a 4.84% rise and a 22.97% drop, respectively, while Grupo Posadas SAB de CV recorded a 50% increase with 33 job postings during September 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s travel & tourism industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 31.26% share in September 2022, a 32.31% decrease over August 2022. Germany featured next with a 23.45% share, down 28.65% over the previous month. Denmark recorded a 6.93% share, a growth of 2.63% compared with August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.98%, down by 29.01% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 15.81% share, registered a decline of 33.08% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.85% share, down 3.7% over August 2022.
