India’s travel & tourism industry registered a 13.5% drop in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 4.17% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 15.65% share in July 2022, recording a decrease of 0.91% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.56% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s travel & tourism industry in July 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 69.33% in July 2022, registering a 28.44% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 11.56% share, a decrease of 31.58% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 10.22%, registering a 9.52% rise from June 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 8%, up 20% over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 22.04% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s travel & tourism industry during July 2022 over June 2022.

A.P. Moller – Maersk posted 84 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a rise of 27.27% over the previous month, followed by The Walt Disney with 53 jobs and a 56.56% drop. Expedia Group with 29 IT jobs and Capital A with 17 jobs, recorded a 123.08% growth and a 50% decrease, respectively, while American Express Global Business Travel recorded a decline of 20% with 8 job postings during July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.11%, down by 17.92% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 29.33% share, registered a decline of 31.25% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 7.56% share, down 45.16% over June 2022.
