The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 12.98% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 10.77% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 6.58% over the last three-month average share.

Top five travel & tourism companies in Malaysia’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 54.02% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia’s travel & tourism industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

Genting Group posted 22 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a drop of 40.54% over the previous month, followed by Genting with 9 jobs and an 80.43% drop. AirAsia Group with 6 IT jobs and A.P. Moller – Maersk with 2 jobs, recorded a 100% flat growth and a 100% flat growth, respectively, while Booking Holdings recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.41%, down by 40.91% from August 2021. Entry Level positions with a 31.71% share, registered a decline of 67.5% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 4.88% share, down 33.33% over August 2021.
