Middle East & Africa witnessed a 3.4% drop in IT hiring activity in the travel & tourism industry in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
December 2021 has seen a decrease of 3.87% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 2.86% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 0.01% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 58.82% in December 2021, a 25% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 13.73% in December 2021, marking a 16.67% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 13.73% in December 2021, a 41.67% drop from November 2021.
Computer and Information Research Scientists registered a share of 7.84% in December 2021, a 20% decline over the previous month.
Top five travel & tourism companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 5.88% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s travel & tourism industry during December 2021 over previous month.
Qatar Airways Group QCSC posted 14 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered an increase of 27.27% over the previous month, followed by The Emirates Group with 7 jobs and a 600% growth. Expedia Group with 6 IT jobs and Uber Technologies with 6 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 71.43% drop, respectively, while Accor recorded a 200% increase with 3 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s travel & tourism industry
United Arab Emirates commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 33.33% share in December 2021, a 70% increase over November 2021. Qatar featured next with a 27.45% share, up 16.67% over the previous month. Jordan recorded a 13.73% share, a drop of 50% compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.78%, down by 34.04% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 23.53% share, registered a decline of 40% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.73% share, up 16.67% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.96%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
