North America witnessed an 11.6% drop in IT hiring activity in the travel & tourism industry in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

June 2022 has seen a decrease of 5.87% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 2.75% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2022, registering a decrease of 0.2% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 45.55% in June 2022, a 37.17% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 28.08% in June 2022, marking a 9.89% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 9.36% in June 2022, a 29.31% drop from May 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 9.25% in June 2022, a 19% decline over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 12.56% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s travel & tourism industry during June 2022 over previous month.

The Walt Disney posted 123 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a decline of 50% over the previous month, followed by Aimbridge Hospitality with 100 jobs and a 222.58% growth. Marriott International with 57 IT jobs and National Railroad Passenger with 50 jobs, recorded a 26.67% rise and a 1.96% drop, respectively, while American Airlines Group recorded a 21.95% decline with 32 job postings during June 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s travel & tourism industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 92.47% share in June 2022, a 28.45% decrease over May 2022. Canada featured next with a 7.19% share, down 5.97% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.34% share, a drop of 78.57% compared with May 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.3%, down by 23.32% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 21.12% share, registered a decline of 37.71% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.47% share, down 29.76% over May 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.11%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
