October 2022 has seen a decrease of 8.47% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 2.57% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering a decrease of 0.15% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 43.58% in October 2022, a 34.12% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 30.43% in October 2022, marking a 9.54% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 10.25% in October 2022, an 11.24% rise from September 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 16.07% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s travel & tourism industry during October 2022 over previous month.
Walt Disney posted 164 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a decline of 33.6% over the previous month, followed by Aimbridge Hospitality with 74 jobs and a 3.9% drop. Marriott International with 57 IT jobs and National Railroad Passenger with 41 jobs, recorded a 10.94% drop and a 10.87% drop, respectively, while Delta Air Lines recorded an 185.71% increase with 40 job postings during October 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s travel & tourism industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 91.72% share in October 2022, a 22.14% decrease over September 2022. Canada featured next with a 7.25% share, down 27.84% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.04% share, a flat growth compared with September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.28%, down by 24.49% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 24.95% share, registered a decline of 13.93% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.94% share, down 30.17% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.83%, recording a month-on-month growth of 700%.
