September 2021 has seen a decrease of 8.88% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 2.87% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 0.16% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 64.71% in September 2021, a 57.14% rise over the previous month. Computer Support Specialists came in next, claiming a share of 11.76% in September 2021, marking a flat month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 11.76% in September 2021, a flat growth from August 2021.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 5.88% in September 2021, a flat growth over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 225% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s travel & tourism industry during September 2021 over previous month.

Uber Technologies posted 4 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered an increase of 100% over the previous month, followed by Selina Holding Co with 3 jobs and a flat growth. A.P. Moller – Maersk with 2 IT jobs and TripAdvisor with 2 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Soneva Mauritius recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during September 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s travel & tourism industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 29.41% share in September 2021, a 400% increase over August 2021. Panama featured next with a 23.53% share, flat growth over the previous month. Chile recorded a 23.53% share, a growth of 33.33% compared with August 2021.

Entry Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Entry Level jobs held a share of 47.06%, flat growth from August 2021. Junior Level positions with a 47.06% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 5.88% share, down 50% over August 2021.
