South & Central America witnessed a 23.3% rise in IT hiring activity in the travel & tourism industry in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

August 2022 has seen an increase of 2.42% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.4% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2022, registering an increase of 0.37% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 48.48% in August 2022, a 128.57% rise over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 15.15% in August 2022, marking a 150% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 12.12% in August 2022, a 300% rise from July 2022.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 12.12% in August 2022, a flat growth over the previous month.

Top five travel & tourism companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 163.64% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s travel & tourism industry during August 2022 over previous month.

A.P. Moller – Maersk posted 10 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered an increase of 66.67% over the previous month, followed by BCD Travel Services with 7 jobs and a 250% growth. The Walt Disney with 5 IT jobs and Uber Technologies with 4 jobs, recorded a 150% rise and a flat growth, respectively, while Gateway Casinos & Entertainment recorded a 200% increase with 3 job postings during August 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s travel & tourism industry

Argentina commanded a leading presence in the region’s travel & tourism industry IT hiring activity with a 24.24% share in August 2022, a 300% increase over July 2022. Costa Rica featured next with a 21.21% share, up 75% over the previous month. Brazil recorded an 18.18% share, a growth of 500% compared with July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 87.88%, up by 163.64% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 6.06% share, registered a growth of 100% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 6.06% share, flat growth over July 2022.
