The UK’s travel & tourism industry registered a 5.8% rise in IT hiring activity in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 17.72% in January 2022 when compared with December 2022.

Out of the travel & tourism industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.05% share in January 2022, recording an increase of 1.62% over the last three-month average share.

 

Top five job classifications in the UK’s travel & tourism industry’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 95.83% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s travel & tourism industry in January 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 58.33% in January 2022, registering a 20.43% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 15.1% share, an increase of 38.1% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.94%, registering a flat growth from December 2022.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 7.29%, up 40% over the previous month.

 

Top five travel & tourism companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 32.98% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s travel & tourism industry during January 2022 over December 2022.

Caesars Entertainment posted 36 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered a drop of 2.7% over the previous month, followed by A.P. Moller – Maersk with 34 jobs and a 2.86% drop. Expedia Group with 28 IT jobs and The Walt Disney with 18 jobs, recorded a 250% growth and a 500% growth, respectively, while easyJet recorded a decline of 18.18% with 9 job postings during January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 75%, up by 14.29% from December 2022. Mid Level positions with a 17.19% share, registered an increase of 6.45% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 7.81% share, up 36.36% over December 2022.
