1. China – 142.1 million departures

GlobalData forecasts that China will see 142.1 million international departures in 2022, making it the biggest source market in Asia Pacific. According to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database Macau, Hong Kong and Thailand are expected to be the most popular destinations for those travelling from China in 2022.

2. Hong Kong – 32.3 million departures

According to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database, Hong Kong will be the second biggest source market in Asia Pacific, with 32.3 million international departures. GlobalData predicts that China, Macau and Japan will be the most popular destinations for this origin market in 2022.

3. South Korea – 24.5 million departures

With 24.5 million international departures anticipated, South Korea will be the third biggest source market in Asia Pacific, according to GlobalData. Japan, Vietnam and USA are forecast to be the most popular destinations for this source market in 2022, according to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database.

4. India – 23.3 million departures

India will be the fourth biggest source market in Asia Pacific with 23.3 million international departures, according to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database. Moreover, GlobalData predicts UAE, Thailand and Saudi Arabia to be the most popular destinations for those travelling from India in 2022.

5. Taiwan – 18.8 million departures

A predicted 18.8 million international departures in 2022make Asia Pacific the fifth biggest source market in Asia Pacific, according to GlobalData’s estimates. The most popular destinations from Taiwan during the year are expected to be the China, Japan and South Korea, according to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database.
