1. Germany – 88.6 million departures

GlobalData forecasts that Germany will see 88.6 million international departures in 2022, making it the biggest source market in Europe. According to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database, Austria, Italy and France are expected to be the most popular destinations for those travelling from Germany in 2022.

2. The UK – 63.7 million departures

According to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database, the UK will be the second biggest source market in Europe, with 63.7 million international departures. GlobalData predicts that Spain, France and Italy will be the most popular destinations for this origin market in 2022.

3. France – 33.6 million departures

With 33.6 million international departures anticipated, France will be the third biggest source market in Europe, according to GlobalData. Spain, Italy and the UK are forecast to be the most popular destinations for this source market in 2022, according to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database.

4. Italy – 25.6 million departures

Italy will be the fourth biggest source market in Europe with 25.6 million international departures, according to GlobalData’s traveller demands & flows database. Moreover, GlobalData predicts France, Spain and the UK to be the most popular destinations for those travelling from Italy in 2022.

5. The Netherlands – 22.1 million departures

A predicted 22.1 million international departures in 2022 make Netherlands the fifth biggest source market in Europe, according to GlobalData’s estimates.
