Top five leisure and hospitality building construction projects that commenced in the UK in Q2 2022

Here are the top five leisure and hospitality building construction projects that commenced in the UK in Q2 2022, according to GlobalData’s construction projects database.

1. Pownall Street Mixed-Use Community – $200m

The project involves the construction of a mixed-use community comprising two buildings of nine and 16-stories in Liverpool.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2026.

The project will be located at the site bound by Park Lane, Pownall Street, Liver Street and Beckwick Street.

2. Abbey Street Hampton by Hilton Hotel – $55m

The project involves the construction of a Hampton by Hilton hotel in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to finish in Q4 2025.

The project aims to help make Coventry and Warwickshire a safe and highly attractive place to live, study, work, invest, and encourage visitors to Nuneaton to boost the local economy.

3. Inverness Castle Renovation – $43m

The project involves the renovation of the Inverness Castle in Inverness, Highland.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is forecast to complete in Q4 2025.

The project aims to provide a tourism gateway for the Highlands contributing to the reinvigoration of tourism and support economic growth, creating a sustainable, viable and must-see attraction that will celebrate the spirit of the Highlands.

4. 107-125 Duke Street Hotel Complex – $40m

The project involves the construction of an eight-story hotel building at 107-125 Duke Street, on the site of the former NCP multistorey car park, in Liverpool, UK.

Construction work commenced in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2022.

Initially in March 2019, Legacie Developments announced plans to convert the site into a luxury four-star hotel, however in January 2020, Legacie Developments sold the site to Molo Hotels (previously known as Liverpool Suffolk Street Hotel).

5. Whitelock Street Student Accommodation Facility – $39m

The project involves the construction of a student accommodation comprising four blocks on 0.40ha of land in the City and Borough of Leeds.

Construction work started in Q2 2022 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2025.

The aim of the project is to transform the Diamond House and Caroline House to provide high-quality student accommodation facilities in the region.
