21 Carpenter, a heritage boutique hotel in Singapore, is scheduled to open in the latter part of the fourth quarter (Q4) this year, as reported by HospitalityNet.

Situated at the corner of Carpenter Street and New Bridge Road, the 48-room hotel is a member of Design Hotels, which is affiliated with Marriott Bonvoy.

Remittance House, Chye Hua Seng Wee Kee, built in 1936, is being renovated and transformed into 21 Carpenter.

Located between Clarke Quay and Chinatown, the property is being developed by conservation specialists 8M Real Estate.

Architectural corporation WOHA is restoring the hotel while preserving elements of the original building.

The new property will have two wings: the Heritage Wing, with 26 rooms in the preserved building and the Urban Wing, with 22 rooms in a modern five-story extension.

The guest rooms will vary in size from 30m² to 56m² and cater to luxury travellers.

21 Carpenter will host a neo-bistro and bar, which will be led by Michelin-starred chef Andrew Walsh as the culinary director.

Situated in the hotel’s centre under a triple-volume glass skylight, the lobby will serve as a cocktail destination, a communal workspace and an all-day cosy spot.

The property will also feature commissioned art by local artists, selected by The Artling, an online art gallery.

Among the amenities to be provided at the property include a rooftop infinity pool, a lounge offering city and Marina Bay views and a garden terrace on the third floor.

This announcement comes just after Marriott International launched a brand in September for the midscale segment called Four Points Express by Sheraton.
