Accor has secured a coveted position on the “A-list” of environmental nonprofit CDP [a charity that runs the global disclosure systems for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts], affirming its commitment to environmental transparency and action on climate change. This marks the first time Accor has achieved this distinction, highlighting its dedication to managing environmental risks and addressing climate challenges within its business operations.

Leading the pack in climate action

Of more than 21,000 companies evaluated by CDP, Accor is among the 141 European organisations awarded an A rating for its efforts in combating climate change. Accor stands out as the sole hospitality company to receive this recognition, underscoring its leadership in the industry.

Commitment to sustainability and climate neutrality

Accor’s sustainability strategy places a strong emphasis on people and nature, with a focus on transforming operations, enhancing guest experiences and promoting sustainable food models. The company has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, aligning with the Paris Agreement [the United Nations Climate Accords signed by 196 countries in 2016] and validated by science-based targets. To meet these ambitious targets, Accor is collaborating closely with stakeholders and industry alliances to set new standards for sustainable practices.

Sébastien Bazin, chairman and CEO of Accor, emphasised in a statement the company’s dedication to environmental stewardship. “Accor is leading the charge in transforming the hospitality industry to one that prioritizes environmental and societal contributions.

“As demonstrated in 2023, the climate change consequences are real, which requires exploring new ways of managing hotels. Thanks to the strong dedication of Accor teams across the world, the group proves that it has the adequate strategy, method, governance and rigour to pursue its efforts to support and provide solutions to our owners in their decarbonisation journey and accelerate the deployment of our strategy, in coalition with our stakeholders.”

“Congratulations to all the companies on CDP’s A List, and those companies that started or accelerated their journey towards environmental transparency in 2023 – we saw a 24% increase of disclosures last year and that trajectory is to be applauded.”
