Accor’s midscale hotel chain Mercure has expanded its presence in Indonesia by opening a new hotel in East Java.

The new Mercure Madiun draws inspiration from the city’s rich railway heritage and is located near key attractions such as INKA Railway Museum, Madiun Train Station and business districts.

Mercure Madiun boasts 153 guest rooms, including deluxe rooms and privilege suite rooms, all reflecting the city’s locomotive industry.

Guests can enjoy a range of amenities, including a swimming pool, a fitness centre, and a dedicated Kids Club.

Mercure Madiun is also set to become a location for events with its flexible meeting facilities and the upcoming Grand Ballroom, which will accommodate up to 700 guests.

Accor Asia Premium, Midscale and Economy chief operating officer Garth Simmons said: “The opening of Mercure Madiun marks an exciting milestone for Accor as we continue to expand our footprint in Indonesia.

“This new property not only enhances our growing presence in East Java but also reinforces our commitment to offering memorable hospitality experiences rooted in local culture. We look forward to welcoming guests to discover Madiun’s unique charm through the distinctive Mercure lens.”

Accor’s lifestyle loyalty programme, ALL, provides additional benefits to guests staying at Mercure Madiun.

The expansion of Mercure hotels continues globally, with more than 1,000 properties across 70 countries.

There are 29 Mercure hotels in Indonesia alone. In addition to Mercure Madiun, the hospitality group also launched a new property in Garut City Center, West Java, in January 2025.

The Mercure Garut City Center features 160 rooms and suites and is equipped with a swimming pool, a gym, and a restaurant, further cementing Mercure’s footprint in the region.
