Indian conglomerate Adani Group, the operator of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is set to build two premium segment hotels within the airport’s vicinity, The Economic Times (ET) reported.

The company is set to infuse Rs1.5bn ($200m) over the next five years to establish these properties, marking its entry into the hospitality real estate sector.

The proposed hotels will be located near the international terminal and are part of a broader airport development plan.

This initiative includes the creation of retail and commercial spaces, as well as entertainment zones.

Adani Group will not directly manage the hotel operations but will instead partner with a hospitality company for management duties, ET said, citing sources.

While the company has not responded to email queries about the hotel launch from the news agency, it is known that discussions are already underway with a potential hospitality partner for a new property at the Adani Shantigram township.

The addition of these hotels is expected to expand Ahmedabad’s current five-star room inventory of over 6,500 by an additional 800 rooms within three years.

The expansion of business and industry in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, coupled with increasing investments and tourist arrivals, is fuelling growth in the local hospitality sector.

This is evidenced by the launch of six new hotels since 2020 and the ongoing development of two more properties by different hospitality groups along the SP Ring Road.

Last July, Fern Hotels and Resorts acquired the Metropole Hotel in Ahmedabad, under a revenue-share model, Hotelier India reported.

The acquired property marks Fern Hotels’ 24th operational hotel in Gujarat.
