Dubai-based Aleph Hospitality has entered an agreement to manage the Zaria Court Hotel in Kigali, Rwanda.

Set to open in 2025, the hotel will be part of an urban lifestyle hub called Zaria Court, which will also include food and beverage outlets, an outdoor amphitheatre, retail and a sports complex.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the 2.4ha Zaria Court was attended by Rwanda’s president Paul Kagame and the NBA’s Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri.

Inspired by Masai Ujiri, Zaria Court marks the first venture among a series of hubs for sports, as well as social and cultural gatherings set to open in Africa.

The expansion plans include cities such as Nairobi, Accra, Dakar, Lagos and Johannesburg over the next five years.

Masai Ujiri said: “Sports infrastructure is a critical infrastructure for building vibrant economies. Zaria Court is a place where people will come together to convene, compete and celebrate.

“This hotel is a core component of the site and we look forward to working with Aleph Hospitality to create a place where everyone feels welcome.”

Aleph Hospitality founder and managing director Bani Haddad said: “We are excited to be a project partner with Zaria Court and to be part of this coordinated focus on community, hospitality, sports and culture in Rwanda, one of the fastest-developing countries in Africa.”

The four-star hotel will include 80 rooms and suites, along with a restaurant, a rooftop bar and a sports bar.

It will also provide a range of amenities such as co-working spaces, meeting facilities, a members’ club and a gym.

The hospitality management company plans to manage the hotel by prioritising sustainability and delivering seamless service through its local teams.
