AMJ Group has announced plans for the development of the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Gainesville, Florida in the US.

Slated to open in spring 2022, Hyatt Place Gainesville Downtown will offer amenities which include, free Wi-Fi and 24hr food offerings to the neighbourhood.

The property will feature 145 guestrooms, a second-floor elevated pool, market, lounge, restaurant and meeting space spread over 1,800ft2.

It is expected to cater to different travellers which includes, University of Florida guests.

Hyatt’s senior vice president of development and owner relations, Hyatt Place and Hyatt House Jim Tierney said: “As a local developer, AMJ Group has deep-rooted knowledge and experience in the Gainesville community, and we look forward to collaborating with them to introduce the first Hyatt-branded hotel to Gainesville.

“Hyatt Place Gainesville Downtown will bring a new and dynamic product to an important marketplace and illustrates how the Hyatt Place brand continues to meet demand and desire for high-quality, functional hotels near university campuses.”

The hotel will be a part of a mixed-use development, where the retail will be located on the ground floor with the residential spaces on the five floors.

The residential spaces will contain nine one-bedroom apartments, 30 studio-loft apartments and a residents-only fitness centre.

The development’s central location is in proximity to the different offerings of Gainesville, which includes, Innovation Square, parks, museums restaurants and entertainment venues.
