Norwegian contractor Betonmast Røsand has secured a contract worth around Nkr320m ($30.1m) from Campus Kristiansund 3 AS to build a new hotel in Kristiansund.

Under the turnkey contract, Betonmast Røsand will construct a 40m-high hotel with a gross floor area (GFA) of approximately 9,000m².

The hotel will be operated by hotel group Strawberry and located adjacent to Campus Kristiansund, a commercial development covering around 20,500m² GFA.

Construction is scheduled to begin between August and September 2025 and be completed in June 2027.

This project follows Betonmast Røsand’s delivery of Campus Kristiansund to the same developer last year.

Bane NOR Eiendom and NHP/Reitan Eiendom AS jointly own Campus Kristiansund 3 AS.

Betonmast Røsand general manager Eskild Røsand said: “Campus Kristiansund has been crucial for us to now start another project for the same client. This is a project we have been working on for well over a year.

“The customer has had confidence in us and has believed that together we will achieve this here. It is therefore very pleasing that after close and good cooperation we have now managed to land the project.

“The hotel is long-awaited, and we will build a fantastic hotel for the city. Together with Campus Kristiansund construction phase one, this is the start of Kristiansund version 2.0.”

Bane NOR Eiendom development director Morten Autestad said: “We look forward to getting started with the next step in the development of this central area in Kristiansund.”

In November 2024, Strawberry and Nordic hotel chain Quality Hotel were contracted to manage Swedavia’s new hotel at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

According to Swedavia, the hotel is poised to become the “largest” in the Nordics with 656 rooms.
