The project was completed in late 2024. It was designed by AD100 architecture firm Studio Gang and developed by Urban Villages. Wildman Chalmers Design was responsible for the interiors.

It is located in central Denver, two blocks from the Colorado Convention Center and at the edge of the central business district. The positioning helps it to cater to business travellers and the events and conference market.

The nearby residential districts of the Golden Triangle and Capitol Hill, together with a sizeable local workforce, are expected to contribute to activity around the hotel.

A statement from Crescent Hotels & Resorts said: “Featuring an iconic Aspen-tree-inspired design, Populus Denver is located on a prominent corner site, greeting the neighbourhood equally on all three sides and connecting Denver’s civic, arts, and commercial districts.”

The hotel offers modern guest rooms and suites alongside social spaces and flexible meeting and event areas. These are aimed at both corporate users and leisure groups.

Food and beverage facilities include a rooftop restaurant and bar, and a full-service restaurant. In the lobby, Little Owl Coffee provides drinks and pastries.

Crescent Hotels & Resorts added that Populus Denver has set a new standard for sustainable travel and operates on “regenerative hospitality principles”.

These include zero-waste systems and the “One Night, One Tree” initiative, under which a tree is planted for every night’s stay.

In March 2025, Crescent Hotels & Resorts appointed Elie Khoury as its new chief operating officer.
