IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the reopening of the newly renovated Crowne Plaza Albany – The Desmond Hotel in New York, US.
The 323-room hotel is located off the Northway I-87 Exit 3, half a mile from the Albany International Airport.
Operating since 1974, the family-owned and operated hotel completed a $16m full transformation programme to better cater to the needs of modern business and leisure guests.
The new Crowne Plaza Albany – The Desmond Hotel features spiral staircase suites with private entrances and patios, a redesigned and expanded 24-hour fitness centre, modernised indoor heated pool, Mr. D’s Restaurant & Lounge and more.
The hotel is also home to Crowne Plaza’s flexible work and meeting design space, called Plaza Workspace.
It also offers around 25,000ft2 of indoor event space including 11 meeting rooms, three ballrooms and fully renovated indoor courtyards.
Additionally, the hotel has invested in the Aerus – IOT – Shepherd Air Purification and Filtration system. The system will be fully operational by this spring.
Mr. D’s Restaurant & Lounge features a new menu, a fireplace, marble-top bar with built-in wireless phone chargers and an outdoor patio.

Desmond family’s third generation will manage the independently owned hotel.
