The Heritage Hotel Group is reportedly acquiring the Vanderbilt Hotel, a Georgian Revival mansion in Newport, Rhode Island, US, as reported by The Providence Journal.
The 33-room property, currently under the Auberge Resorts Collection, is expected to change hands this year, pending certain closing conditions. This marks a shift back to local ownership for the hotel, which has been part of luxury property collections for more than 15 years.
The Heritage Hotel Group spokesperson Michael Anderson said: “The Vanderbilt represents the pinnacle of luxury hospitality in Newport, and its rich history perfectly complements our portfolio focus on quality properties and superior guest experiences.
“We are committed to honouring its historic significance while introducing thoughtful enhancements that will further elevate the property for our visitors. This acquisition aligns with our strategy of investing in distinctive properties that define their destinations.”
Located in Newport, The Vanderbilt will continue to operate throughout the transition while retaining all reservations, services, staff, and programmes for guests.
Auberge will retain management of the hotel’s various amenities, including its dining venues and spa.
