Hospitality firm Hotel Okura Co has revealed plans to open its new property in Sheshan, Songjiang District in Shanghai city, China.

Named Hotel Okura Shanghai Sheshan, the hotel is being built in an area of approximately 40,000m2. It is located approximately 18km from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.

The layout of the property comprises two floors above the ground and three basement floors.

Once complete, Hotel Okura Shanghai Sheshan will feature 280 guest rooms each with a standard area of about 50m2.

The hotel will also house a variety of restaurants offering Japanese cuisine, all-day dining and Chinese cuisine, as well as a lobby lounge.

Other guest amenities at the hotel include a banquet hall and multi-purpose meeting space, a fitness centre and a spa facility featuring an indoor pool.

Hotel Okura Co president Toshihiro Ogita said: “We are very pleased to be opening a new property in Sheshan, the closest resort area to Shanghai. We will welcome our guests there with the spirit of Japanese hospitality and provide them with a relaxing resort stay.”

The hotel construction project is invested and developed by the Shanghai CITI-RAISE Construction Group Investment Company.

An agreement covering the new property’s operation was reached between Hotel Okura Co and Shanghai CITI-RAISE Construction Group on 31 August last year.

Hotel Okura Shanghai Sheshan is slated to open in 2024.

Okura Nikko Hotel Management Co, the company’s subsidiary, operates 78 properties including 53 in Japan and 25 outside the country under three groups, namely Okura Hotels & Resorts, Nikko Hotels International and Hotel JAL City.
