Bunkhouse Hotels, in collaboration with developer The Marchbanks Company, has announced the opening of Hotel Saint Augustine, a new boutique hotel in Houston, Texas, US.

The Bunkhouse Hotels brand is part of the lifestyle group of Hyatt.

This marks the Bunkhouse brand’s first venture in Houston, offering hospitality experience across 2.2 acres with 71 rooms and suites, a Gulf Coast-inspired restaurant, and various amenities.

The hotel’s room types range from 200ft² Petite Queen rooms to Atelier suites complete with private outdoor living space for guests.

Hyatt lifestyle president and creative director Amar Lalvani said: “Adding a Bunkhouse hotel in Houston has been our team’s dream for a long time.

“Houston is an underappreciated capital of culinary, culture, art, and design, and those things are all core to the Bunkhouse mission. We can’t wait to become a part of such a rich and diverse local community and introduce new visitors to a city we love.”

Fronting Loretto Drive, the lobby features a reception desk with burled walnut and Calacatta Viola marble.

Houston’s chef Aaron Bludorn and Bludorn director of operations Cherif Mbodji oversee the hotel’s food and beverage concepts.

Perseid, the hotel’s all-day restaurant, presents a menu that celebrates Houston’s diverse culinary scene with global influences. The restaurant’s design includes custom Art Deco-inspired pendants.

Hotel Saint Augustine features a flexible event space that can host up to 250 guests for various events.

Hotel Saint Augustine’s general manager Omar Abreu said: “We are thrilled to join the Houston community, and more specifically, the Montrose neighbourhood, as we open the doors to Hotel Saint Augustine.

“Montrose’s rich cultural history, unique and welcoming charm, and its proximity to multiple beloved art institutions make it a destination for locals and travellers alike.”

The Hyatt brand aims to continue their growth in Houston this year with the opening of Hotel Daphne in Houston Heights, along with the first Jo’s Coffee outlet outside of Austin.
