Full-service modern boutique hotel brand Hyatt Centric has unveiled plans to expand its global portfolio by 50%, aiming to open more than 35 new hotels by 2028.
This move will bring the total number of Hyatt Centric hotels to exceed 100 sites worldwide by 2029. In addition, the brand aims to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region by more than 75% over the next three years.
Hyatt’s Classics & Essentials Portfolios vice president and global brand leader Emily Wright said: “As part of our strategic brand realignment and bringing more focused expertise and support to five distinct brand portfolios, the Hyatt Centric brand serves as a fantastic addition to our Classics Portfolio, a group of captivating brands offering timeless style and unrivalled care in the world’s most-travelled places.
“The brand’s recent growth, including openings and planned developments, meets the rising demand from guests and members, especially millennial and Gen Z travellers, for more contemporary accommodations with playful details, sophisticated furnishings and socially connected spaces.”
Several new Hyatt Centric hotels are also set to open in the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East, marking the brand’s debut in new markets.
Notable openings include the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Costa Rica, Malta, the Caribbean, and Shanghai.
In the Americas, Hyatt Centric will resume operations in Chicago and introduce the brand to Puerto Rico this year. Other upcoming hotel locations include Querétaro, Mexico; Cincinnati, Ohio; Victoria, Canada; and Winnipeg Downtown.
The Asia Pacific region will see the introduction of Hyatt Centric in Bengaluru Airport and Electronic City Bangalore in 2026, expanding the brand’s presence in India. The brand will also open multiple hotels in China, as well as a property in Hokkaido, Japan.
Last month, Hyatt Hotels unveiled a growth strategy for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East (EAME), targeting 13 new markets, including Estonia, Iceland, Romania, Cape Verde, and Mauritius.
The company has reported a pipeline of nearly 138,000 rooms by the end of 2024 and has undertaken a reorganisation of its brand categories to better segment its offerings.
