Hyatt Hotels has unveiled a strategic update to its executive team composition, underscoring a shift towards greater brand-centric operations and organisational flexibility.
This realignment reinforces Hyatt’s dedication to addressing the unique preferences of its guests, property owners, and developers through five specialised brand categories, the company stated.
The move includes the appointment of Marc Jacheet as group president for Europe, Africa, and Middle East (EAME), effective 17 March 2025, with full responsibilities commencing on 1 July 2025.
With more than 25 years of management expertise across various continents and luxury consumer brands, Jacheet will be stationed at Hyatt’s EAME Hub in Zurich, Switzerland, and report directly to Hyatt president and CEO Mark Hoplamazian.
Javier Águila, who has overseen Hyatt’s EAME region since 2022, will take on the role of chief growth officer from 1 July 2025, alongside his new position as president of the Inclusive Collection as of 1 March 2025.
Águila will helm Hyatt’s global expansion strategies and transactions and support Jacheet’s transition until 30 June 2025. Both will then assume their new positions, with Águila continuing to report to Hoplamazian.
Hyatt’s current chief growth officer Jim Chu will transition to head of owner relations on 1 July 2025, which will see Chu intensify the company’s focus on this critical stakeholder group.
Hyatt president and CEO Mark Hoplamazian said: “Today’s announcements highlight two key points for Hyatt.
“First, bringing in top business leaders with deep brand and operating expertise like Marc Jacheet will lead to building EAME’s momentum in performance and growth and accelerate our evolution toward a more brand-focused, high-performance enterprise. Second, assigning new strategic roles to Hyatt leaders like Javier Águila and Jim Chu demonstrates the agile leadership capabilities we are developing for the future.”
Last month, Hyatt Hotels announced the creation of Hyatt Select, a new “upper midscale” transient brand.
Hyatt Select is set to complement Hyatt Studios, the company’s extended-stay offering in the same market segment.
