The hotel will also comprise 13,000ft² of event space, with two large pillarless banquet halls and several meeting rooms.

A fitness centre and swimming pool are also part of the project.

IHCL real estate and development executive vice-president Suma Venkatesh said: “Bengaluru is among India’s leading lodging markets with Yeshwantpur as a key commercial micro-market. The addition of the reimagined Gateway brand in Yeshwantpur reinforces IHCL’s presence in North Bengaluru.”

The property is being built as a joint development project with Naveen Hotels, the hospitality arm of the RN Shetty Group.

Naveen Hotels chairman Satish Shetty said: “We are happy to grow our partnership with IHCL for this Gateway project. This hotel will contribute to the area’s growing hospitality landscape.”

Construction work on the brownfield project is anticipated to be over within 24 months.

Venkatesh added: “Strengthening our partnership with Mr Satish Shetty of Naveen Hotels, this signing represents our third hotel through this association.”

Upon this signing, IHCL’s Bengaluru portfolio features 21 hotels, of which 12 are under development.

In April, IHCL signed a Gateway Hotel and Convention Centre in Kanamangala, Devanahalli, near Bengaluru Airport in Karnataka. That project is being developed as a greenfield venture.

Founded by Jamsetji Tata, IHCL opened its first hotel in Bombay in 1903. The company’s portfolio stands at 640 hotels, including 263 in the pipeline, across four continents, 15 countries and more than 300 locations.
