The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has unveiled the signing of a new hotel under the Gateway brand in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India.
This development is part of a conversion project and aims to capitalise on the growing tourism market in the region.
IHCL real estate and development executive vice-president Suma Venkatesh said: “Dehradun’s proximity to popular destinations such as Mussoorie, Rishikesh, and Haridwar has attracted a mix of leisure travellers, pilgrims, and business delegations driving a significant rise in tourism.
“This aligns with our strategy to tap into high-growth markets. With the addition of Gateway Dehradun, IHCL will strengthen its multi-brand presence of five hotels in the city, reflective of the growing tourism potential of the region.”
The Gateway Dehradun, located near the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, will feature 100 rooms and is designed to offer a comprehensive experience with dining options.
It will provide treatment rooms, a gym, and a swimming pool for recreation and wellness.

By GlobalDataAccording to IHCL, the hotel will also boast the region’s “largest” banqueting facility, which will cover more than 10,000ft².
The company has partnered with Mohammed Ilyas for the Gateway Dehradun project. Ilyas’s company, Classic Motels, is focused on the hospitality and real estate sectors, specialising in the development and leasing of assets.
Ilyas said: “We are happy to join hands with India’s largest hospitality company. This hotel will become a landmark in the region for weddings and large social events.”
With the introduction of the Gateway Dehradun, IHCL will expand its portfolio to 17 hotels in Uttarakhand, including seven that are currently under development.
This expansion reflects the company’s commitment to the region’s tourism industry, which is bolstered by Dehradun’s status as a hub for education, spirituality, and leisure travel.
Last month, the company announced plans to bring the Gateway brand hotel to the Indian city of Rishikesh.
