Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), a part of Tata Group, has announced plans to open a Taj property in the Indian state of West Bengal, as reported by PTI.

This announcement comes just after the hotel company signed two Taj-branded hotels in Bhutan last week.

Earlier this month, the company also opened Ginger Gangtok, Bojoghari, in the Indian state of Sikkim.

Located in the New Town locality of Kolkata, West Bengal, the new hotel has been named Taj Taal Kutir and will mark the hotel company’s third luxury property in the city, following Taj Bengal and Taj City Centre.

It will also be the second hotel of its kind in New Town.

The hotel has been developed by Ambuja Neotia Group for Rs1.6bn ($19.21m).

Chhatwal also stated that by the fiscal year 2025-26, IHCL aims to have a total of 325 properties, an increase from the current count of 280.

Ambuja Neotia Group chairman Harshvardhan Neotia told the news agency that the group has previously worked with IHCL on projects such as Chia Kutir, Ganga Kutir and Raaj Kutir in West Bengal.
