India-based hospitality firm Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has bolstered its footprint in the country by signing a new Taj property in the Indian city of Bengaluru.

The management contract for the new resort has been awarded to Sattva Homes, part of Sattva Group.

This project’s second phase will offer branded villas as part of the complex.

IHCL CEO and managing director of Puneet Chhatwal said: “The signing of this resort, the seventh property under the Taj brand in Bengaluru, will further strengthen IHCL’s presence in one of India’s top commercial cities with a constantly evolving hospitality landscape.

“This resort getaway will be our 13th hotel across brands in Bengaluru.

“We are delighted to partner with the Sattva Group for this project.”

Located at Rajanukunte in North Bengaluru, the new Taj resort will include 254 keys and 50 Taj branded villas.

The resort is driving distance from the city’s centre and from the airport.

Coving an area of over 18.2ha, the resort will have meeting spaces with outdoor areas, for business and social events.

Other amenities include several restaurants and bars, a swimming pool, a fitness centre and the brand’s signature Jiva spa.

Sattva director Adrija Agarwal said: “The proposed Taj urban resort will be a great new address in the city and it would appeal to all kinds of guests.

“It is the group’s formal foray into hospitality and we are pleased to collaborate with IHCL’s iconic brand Taj as a first step in our partnership.”

Following the latest signing, IHCL has 13 properties comprising nearly 3,000 rooms in Bengaluru. Development is underway on five of these properties.
