Hospitality-focused enterprise Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) is set to debut in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with two new hotels.
The company has signed an agreement with Borak Real Estate for the two hotels, which will be operated under the Taj and Vivanta brands.
The hotels will be a part of an integrated mixed-use complex that will also include retail facilities. The complex is located at Gulshan, a key business hub in Dhaka.
IHCL managing director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said: “We are delighted to debut in Dhaka, adding an important international destination to our portfolio.
“Bangladesh, one of the fastest growing economies in the world, is also the second largest economy in South Asia. Its close proximity and cultural affinity to West Bengal with significant IHCL presence makes it a strategic association.”
The Taj Hotel will offer 230 rooms while Vivanta will comprise 130 rooms. The hotels are expected to introduce multiple new culinary options to the city. Both hotels will include all-day dining areas and bars.

By GlobalDataThe Taj Hotel will also comprise two speciality restaurants, a deli and a rooftop bar. Facilities at the hotel will include large banquet spaces, a spa, a pool, a gym and a health club.
Furthermore, IHCL announced that the Taj will open the first outpost of its private membership club, The Chambers, in Dhaka.

These signings will introduce the iconic brand Taj, the World’s Strongest Hotel brand as per Brand Finance, in Dhaka and bring the Vivanta experience to the city.”
IHCL’s portfolio comprises 260 hotels, including 72 under development in 11 countries.
