Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has opened Vivanta Meghalaya, Shillong, its first property in the country’s North-eastern state.

The new hotel features 101 rooms including 87 guestrooms and 14 suites.

Vivanta Meghalaya, Shillong boasts an all-day diner, Mynt, which serves a mixture of global and local favourites, and a cocktail bar, Wink.

Other guest amenities include a meeting room and banqueting space, fitness centre, business centre, yoga centre and others.

Vivanta Meghalaya, Shillong has convenient access to a number of dining and shopping options.

IHCL managing director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said: “This hotel is in line with IHCL’s commitment to the North-eastern part of India.

“As pioneers of putting new destinations on the global tourism map, IHCL is proud to step into Shillong, known for its natural beauty as well as its distinctive culture, with the handover of the hotel to IHCL today.

“With the addition of Vivanta Meghalaya, Shillong, which will open to guests soon, IHCL strengthens its presence in the region and further elevates its tourism potential.”

With the latest opening, IHCL has expanded its portfolio in the North East India to nine including four under development. 

Vivanta Meghalaya, Shillong general manager Praveen Sharda said: “Located in the city centre, Vivanta Meghalaya, Shillong is in close proximity to major tourist attractions in the city.

In June this year, IHCL opened the new hotel, Vivanta Katra, Vaishno Devi, in Jammu and Kashmir, India.
