IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with The Fragrance Group for a new Hotel Indigo property in Torquay, UK.
This marks the 26th Hotel Indigo in the hospitality company’s UK and Ireland portfolio.
IHG Hotels & Resorts UK and Ireland managing director Joanna Kurowska said: “Our Hotel Indigo brand has experienced accelerated growth in Europe and globally in recent years, propelling owner and guest appetite for the brand. Leisure destinations such as Torquay, known for its seaside charm and year-round activities, perfectly embody Hotel Indigo’s commitment to providing guests with memorable stays entrenched in the stories of their neighbourhoods.
“With our UK & Ireland growth strategy focused on conversions and capitalising on opportunities in leisure and secondary markets, Hotel Indigo Torquay is a great example of a hotel we are keen to add to our growing portfolio.”
Set to open in the second half of 2025, this 153-room hotel in Devon is positioned as a seaside holiday or short break venue catering to both domestic and international travellers.
The hotel is part of the larger resort area known as Torbay or The English Riviera, which includes the towns of Torquay, Paignton, and Brixham.

It is part of IHG’s expansion in the region, which includes six properties currently in development, such as Hotel Indigo Leeds and Hotel Indigo London, Clerkenwell, both expected to open in the second quarter of 2025.
The Fragrance Group spokesperson Martin Rogers said: “With ongoing developments along the town’s waterfront location, Torquay will continue to be recognised as a leading leisure destination in the UK.
“We are confident that working alongside IHG Hotels & Resorts, with their expert knowledge of the UK & Ireland market, backed by their industry-leading powerful enterprise, that Hotel Indigo Torquay will become a market leader in Torquay’s luxury and lifestyle segment.”
Overall, IHG operates 363 hotels in the UK and Ireland, with an additional 33 in development.
Earlier in the year, IHG disclosed plans to open the Hotel Indigo brand to the Balearic Islands with a 75-room property scheduled to open its doors in mid-2026.
