IHG to open second voco hotel in Gangnam, South Korea

voco will be IHG’s fourth brand in the country alongside InterContinental, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.

IHG Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Yongchang Industry Co to open the second voco property in Gangnam district, South Korea.

The 151-room voco Gangnam will open in the second quarter of next year.

IHG South East Asia and Korea development vice-president Serena Lim said: “We’re delighted to continue our growth in South Korea with the signing of voco Gangnam, which adds to the momentum we are building following our announcement of voco Pyeongtaek City in July. This wonderful country is an important market for IHG, and we are proud to have added to our footprint with a great property in such an exciting location.

voco Gangnam hotel will feature an 85-seat café & bar, three meeting rooms with a combined space of 600m2 and a fitness centre.

The hotel will open first as the first voco property, the new-build 280-room voco Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi-do province, is set to open in 2023.

The property is located within a 50-minute drive from Incheon International Airport and a walking distance from Sinsa subway station.

It offers easy access to the Han River, Coex Convention & Exhibition Center, museums and other destinations and is surrounded by popular local attractions including K Star Road, Garosugil, Apgujeong-dong and Hangang Park.

Yongchang Industry Co CEO Oh Sang Jun said: “Gangnam is well-known for its vibrancy, sophisticated ambiance and dynamic culture, which makes the voco brand a great match for it.”

IHG launched voco brand in 2018 and has since recorded more than 50 signed and open hotels in more than 20 countries.

Recently, the brand revealed plans to open two new properties in New Orleans, Louisiana and Olympia, Washington, US.
