Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed a Taj-branded hotel in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, as it looks to deepen its leisure footprint in the state.
Being developed in partnership with Atman Resort & Cottages, the project is a brownfield development with potential for future expansion.

Atman Resort & Cottages partners Sahil Sharma, Sadhna Sharma and Mrinal Sneh Singh said: “We are pleased to partner with IHCL to revive this heritage property.
“The hotel will contribute to the destination’s tourism and create new opportunities for the local community.”
The 105-key Taj Dharamshala will offer views of the valley and the “snow-capped” Dhauladhar mountain range.
A key element of the project is the restoration of a heritage wing, historically known as White Haven Estate. IHCL said it served as the Viceroy’s summer residence in the late 1800s.
The hotel will include an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, function areas, a lobby lounge, two speciality restaurants and wellness facilities.
IHCL real estate and development executive vice-president Suma Venkatesh said: “Shaped by its spiritual significance and evolving tourism demand, Dharamshala attracts a diverse mix of travellers.
“IHCL, celebrated for its commitment to responsible destination development, has expanded its leisure itinerary in the scenic state of Himachal Pradesh. We are pleased to partner with Atman Resort & Cottages for this project.”
With this signing, IHCL’s portfolio in Himachal Pradesh will total 27 hotels, including 12 under development.
In April, IHCL signed a deal to develop a new Gateway hotel in Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh.
