InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, a part of the IHG Hotels & Resorts, has announced plans to open the InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas, US, this year.
Situated in the heart of the downtown Riverwalk neighbourhood and slated to open this summer (June to August), the 21-storey hotel is poised to offer 390 rooms, including 20 suites.

It is also less than a mile from the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
It is owned by Trailbreak Partners and Scarlett Hotel Group and is being designed as a collaborative effort between Leo A Daly and IHG.
Its design draws inspiration from American actress Joan Crawford and Hollywood’s golden era.

The hotel’s interior will feature a blend of mid-century architecture and modern furnishings, complemented by a mix of brass, marble, dark wood, cognac leather, and glass.

By GlobalDataWith more than 18,000ft² of meeting and event space, the InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk will be equipped to host a variety of gatherings.
Its facilities will range from a boardroom to an 8,000ft² ballroom with 18-foot ceilings, alongside spaces offering views of the San Antonio skyline.
Additional amenities at the property will include a 1,800ft² fitness centre, Les Clefs d’Or concierge services, valet and self-parking options, dedicated house cars, dry cleaning, childcare assistance, and Club InterContinental lounge.
Stefan Gruvberger, a veteran with 30 years of experience in international hospitality, has been appointed as the hotel’s general manager.
Gruvberger said: “InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk will bring a fresh take on luxury to the dynamic and diverse city of San Antonio.
“Our property will bring world-class accommodations, modern amenities and innovative design to guests while forging a deep connection to the local community through unique programming, transformative experiences and more. It truly will be the best of both worlds.”
Earlier this month, IHG announced that it is expanding its footprint in Saudi Arabia with two new properties, which include the Regent Riyadh and another InterContinental in the King Abdullah Financial District. Both properties are expected to open in 2027.
