Jumeirah, a hospitality company and a member of Dubai Holding, has reached an agreement with Abu Dhabi United Hospitality to develop Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi United Hospitality will develop the Al Wathba Desert Resort, which is expected to become operational in September 2018. The property will be operated by Jumeirah.

Almost 50km to the south east of Abu Dhabi in the Al Wathba district, the new hotel is located on an area of more than 20,000m².

The hotel will feature 90 rooms and 13 villas, which will be equipped with facilities including all-day-dining, pool and rooftop bars, Talise spa and an offsite desert camp along with conference and meeting rooms.

Jumeirah chief operating officer Marc Dardenne said: “Growing the Jumeirah portfolio is one of our strategic priorities, and we are very pleased to partner with Abu Dhabi United Hospitality on this development initiative, aligned with the UAE Vision 2021.

“Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort will be the 12th luxury Jumeirah hotel in the UAE and this innovative project offers Jumeirah a wonderful opportunity to showcase our truly Arabian hospitality.  We are confident the Resort will be an outstanding destination and will further boost tourism in the emirate.”

With the addition of the new property, Jumeirah has expanded its luxury hotels and resorts portfolio, which currently stands at 20.

Jumeirah has already signed 18 hotel management agreements for its Jumeirah hotels and resorts, and an additional five agreements for its recently-launched second brand, Zabeel House by Jumeirah.
