Marriott is set to launch the first hotel under its lifestyle-inspired European brand AC Hotel in the Dominican Republic.
Dubbed AC Punta Cana, the new hotel further solidifies the expanding portfolio of the brand in Latin America and marks EGI’s first project in the Caribbean.
It is being developed by real estate investment, and management firm EGI Business group in collaboration with Montano Group.
Slated to open next year, this 129-room hotel will be managed by Highgate.
According to the company, AC Punta Cana will feature a larger pool, gardens, fitness centre, and rest areas compared to other hotels by the brand.
It will also have multifunctional spaces including the AC Kitchen, the AC Store, and the AC lounge
In addition, the new hotel will have a corporate event space, an amenity not usually included in this segment.
Designed by architecture firm Requena y Plaza, the interiors of AC Punta Cana will be inspired by Dominican character and its natural influences.
The firm plans to use warm colours, touches of local crafts, and commissioned pieces to set up a ‘supreme complement of contrasts’ in the hotel’s ambiance.
AC Punta Cana will be Marriot’s 11th AC property in the Caribbean.
Founded in 1998, AC Hotels brands has nearly 160 hotels across 22 countries and territories.
In 2018, Marriott International signed a deal with Capital Alliance to open the AC Hotels by Marriott brand in Australia.
