Marriott International has entered into agreement to bring its JW Marriott hotel brand to Brazil’s largest city, São Paulo.

JW Marriott Hotel São Paulo is slated to open in the second quarter of this year and will mark Marriott International’s first luxury hotel in the city.

It will be converted from an existing luxury property and located along Avenida Nações Unidas within Parque da Cidade, a Class A mixed-use complex.

The hotel will be in situated close to major business and exclusive entertainment places in São Paulo.

Marriott International regional vice-president Bojan Kumer said: “We are thrilled to continue expanding our long-standing presence in Brazil in the luxury segment and with one of our flagship brands.

“Brazil is a key and strategic market in our portfolio and today’s signing further underscores our growth commitment to the country. We look forward to positioning JW Marriott Hotel São Paulo as the leading luxury hotel in the city and country.”

The new hotel will boast 258 guestrooms, a full-service restaurant, a lounge/bar, a luxurious spa featuring five treatment rooms, an indoor/outdoor swimming pool, an advanced fitness centre, and others.

In addition, the property will feature six meeting spaces totalling more than 1,000m².

Currently, Marriott operates 11 properties in Brazil.

In a separate development, Marriott entered into agreement with Nanjing OCT Properties to introduce its W Hotels Worldwide brand to Nanjing, China.

Located along the southern bank of the iconic Yangtze River, W Nanjing will feature 257 rooms and suites, four distinctive restaurants and bars, as well as a signature destination bar.

The property is slated to open in 2025.
