US hospitality group Marriott International has planned to open nearly 40 hotels next year as part of its expansion and re-define strategy, from Savannah in Georgia to Tel Aviv in Israel to Hobart in Tasmania.
The company’s brand portfolio includes The Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, St. Regis, W Hotels, The Luxury Collection, Edition and JW Marriott.
Marriott International global brand officer Tina Edmundson said: “From former palaces in Venice and Vienna to skyscrapers in Hong Kong and Dubai to intimate, remote escapes in the Maldives and Mexico, the breadth of our portfolio is incomparable and allows us to surpass the expectations of our guests around the globe.”
With 94 hotels in 31 countries, under the brand Ritz-Carlton, another six locations including China’s Jiuzhaigou Valley, are slated to open next year.
The Berlin and Istanbul locations of Ritz-Carlton brand will undergo renovations.
St. Regis Hotels & Resorts has opened new hotels The St. Regis Shanghai Jingan in Shanghai, The St. Regis Astana in Kazakhstan, Cairo and Amman.

W Hotels brand has planned to start 75 hotels by 2020, with eight hotels to open next year from Tel Aviv and Dubai to Brisbane and Panama City.
The Edition brand is set to open seven new properties across three continents.
Under the partnership between American hotelier Ian Schrager and Marriott International, Edition is set to open eleven properties by the end of next year with further Asian expansion in Shanghai and Bangkok.
It will launch its first outpost in the Middle East in Abu Dhabi and enhance its US count with two properties in New York’s Times Square and West Hollywood.
The Luxury Collection has 102 hotels in more than 30 countries, with ten more new properties in the pipeline to be developed including Los Cabos, Savannah, Vail and Okinawa.
Having 79 hotels and resorts in 30 countries, JW Marriott is expected for new openings in Nashville and the Maldives next year.
It is set to renovate more than half of its properties including JW Marriott Bangkok and Grosvenor House, a JW Marriott Hotel.
Based in Maryland, US, Marriott International has a portfolio of more than 6,400 properties in 30 hotel brands across 126 countries and territories.
