Spanish hotel company Melia Hotels International has opened a new luxurious resort on Phuket’s northwestern coastline in Thailand.

Meliá Phuket Mai Khao is owned by Thailand’s residential real estate developer Phuket Villa Group.

Phuket Villa Group managing director Maetapong Upatising said: “Through our partnership with Spain’s leading hotel group, we are thankful that we can significantly contribute to Phuket’s recovery in the wake of Covid-19 by creating much-needed jobs for the local tourism sector and setting a new benchmark for hospitality on Thailand’s largest island.”

Overlooking the Andaman Sea, the five-star property is situated near to Sirinat National Park, the Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation, and the Wat Phra Thong temple.

Meliá Phuket Mai Khao has 30 one-bedroom suites and 70 one-bedroom wellness-inspired pool villas for families and couples.

The spacious Mediterranean-inspired accommodations at the beachfront resort feature outdoor bathtubs, open-air showers, and outdoor terraces.
