Marriott International has expanded the reach of its Courtyard by Marriott brand with the opening of a new Courtyard hotel in Korea’s Gyeonggi province.

The new Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Pangyo is located in the centre of the Pangyo Techno Valley, which is a growing information technology cluster in Seongnam city and is a close distance from the Pangyo subway station.

The 282-room hotel occupies the eighth floor and and above of the 19-storey mixed-use complex, which houses offices, retail shops, restaurants and coffee shops.

Marriott International Asia Pacific chief operations officer Don Cleary said: "We are delighted to be opening this Courtyard hotel as the first Marriott-branded property in Korea’s Gyeonggi province and are proud to be the first hotel to be built in this emerging IT business hub."

The hotel was opened in association with the domestic investment firm Mirae Asset Financial Group.

Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Pangyo is 100% smoke-free and offers three room types, ranging from 26m² to 42m² featuring a 40in flatscreen smart TV, work desk and ergonomic chair as well as high-speed internet access.

Facilities at the hotel include an all-day-dining restaurant MoMo Café with open kitchen and live cooking stations and serving a menu of snacks, drinks and spirits with an outdoor terrace offering views of the Pangyo Techno Valley. The hotel also has an executive lounge on the 19th floor for executive floor guests and provides daily breakfast, evening happy hour service with canapés, coffee and tea and a free meeting room. Other amenities include seven multi-functional meeting rooms with a dedicated event manager.

The new hotel represents the seventh Marriott International property and second Courtyard-branded hotel in Korea.
