Marriott International’s portfolio of hotels, Autograph Collection, is set to add a new property to its portfolio in Portland, Maine, US, becoming the collection’s 79th property worldwide.
Scheduled to open in May 2015, the new 110-room Press Hotel would be Portland’s first lifestyle, boutique hotel and will be managed by Trust Hospitality.
Autograph Collection vice-president Julius Robinson said: "We are excited to welcome The Press Hotel to Autograph Collection, which was selected for its bold originality, rich character and uncommon details.
"Autograph Collection is known for delivering extraordinary hotel experiences that are Exactly Like Nothing Else, and we believe that The Press Hotel will deliver on this promise."
Architecture group Stonehill & Taylor designed the new hotel and worked with Portland Press Herald editors to select content from the newspaper’s pages to incorporate into various aspects of the design.
The hotel’s guestrooms include a penthouse suite with rooftop access and 360° views of the city and four private function rooms.
Each bathroom at the hotel will feature a reeded glass door, while wood floors will have herringbone area rugs. Local artist Angela Adams has designed a woven wall tapestry exclusively for the hotel.
The property will feature a 65-seat restaurant MC UNION, and the lobby bar, The Inkwell.
By teaming up with Portland institutions including Maine College of Art, The Telling Room, the Portland Public Library and The Salt Institute the Press Hotel will offer insider access to some of the city’s unique entertainment to the guests.
