Nevada-based hotel and casino operator Boyd Gaming is planning to expand Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel in Vinton, Louisiana, with an investment of $45m.

The company will introduce a new hotel tower, which will include 167 additional guest rooms and suites.

Boyd Gaming said it is also planning to redesign the 200 existing rooms, which includes deluxe rooms and suites to give a fresh look to the hotel. The hotel provides all modern day amenities and its casino features more than 1,600 of the most popular slots and video machines.

The company will also renovate food and beverage facilities, which includes The Lookout, Vista, the Triple Crown Buffet and Food Court.

“Delta Downs is extremely popular with our guests, and demand exceeds what we can accommodate with our current facility.”

In order to accommodate more guests for events, the company has also considered expanding its meeting and banquet functions space.

Boyd Gaming CEO Keith Smith said that Delta Downs is one of its strongest performing properties, and the expansion project is a part of the company’s efforts to boost its non-gaming amenities.

Mr Smith said: “Delta Downs is extremely popular with our guests, and demand exceeds what we can accommodate with our current facility.

“With 370 rooms and suites, Delta Downs will be better positioned to meet this growing demand, giving us the opportunity to extend our unique brand of hospitality to more visitors than ever before.

“With our new amenities, we’ll be giving our guests more options to enjoy, and more reasons to visit.

“And by creating a broader entertainment experience, we are confident we’ll attract many new guests to the new Delta Downs.”

Construction will commence in September, with expansion work expected to be concluded by the end of 2016.
