Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has unveiled plans to open a new Radisson Red Hotel V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa, in late 2016.

The new property will form part of the new Silo District of the V&A Waterfront, which will also be home to the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA). It is scheduled to be opened at the same time.

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group president Wolfgang Neumann said: "Following the recent Carlson Rezidor signing of the Radisson Red Shenyang Hunan in China, we are now delighted to announce the first Radisson Red in EMEA in a location as prominent as the V&A Waterfront, giving our new brand both local and global visibility, and adding a vibrant new concept to this world class destination."

Radisson Red Hotel V&A Waterfront will feature 235 guest rooms, including Studios, Studio 4’s and Studio Sweets. It will also include five meeting studios with an area of 460m², and Red Face fitness studio and rooftop swimming pool.

The new property will offer easy access to the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) and Cape Town’s International Airport.

V&A Waterfront CEO David Green said: "Radisson Red is an exciting, creative and innovative offer in the lifestyle select sector, and it is a coup to have the first hotel in EMEA at the V&A Waterfront."

Carlson Rezidor operates five properties with 800 rooms in Cape Town, including brands such as Radisson Blu, Radisson Red and Park Inn by Radisson. The firm said it has the largest pipeline of hotels and rooms under development on the entire continent, with 30 properties and 6,500 rooms.
