Tutor Perini Building, a subsidiary of Tutor Perini, has secured a contract worth $112m for the expansion of the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California, US.

The project involves construction of a hotel tower that will add 215 more rooms, a 20,000ft² pool deck, a parking garage, expansion of the existing gaming floor, and additional food and beverage venues.

The value of the contract is expected to be included as part of the company’s reported third-quarter backlog.

Construction work on the project is slated to begin in October 2014, with substantial completion expected in 2016.

Tribal chairman Vincent Armenta told Los Angeles Times that the expansion will create 250 permanent jobs in Santa Barbara County.

"This is a region that relies heavily on tourism so by adding amenities, we’re helping tourism in the valley," Armenta said.
