Fairmont

Fairmont Le Château Frontenac in Quebec, Canada, has completed major restoration work worth $75m that blends heritage with modernism.

The renovation project was led by the design firms Rockwell Group and Wilson Associates.

Restoration of the Château Frontenac’s famous copper roof was a major part of the project, with extensive masonry work undertaken to protect the building’s integrity.

The renovation has transformed close to 330 rooms and created a new room category called Deluxe Contemporary.

Fairmont Gold, the boutique hotel within the Château, now features 60 rooms compared with the previous 46, and offers views over Quebec City and the St. Lawrence River. Its private lounge has also been expanded.

The project has added three new culinary concepts: Le Champlain restaurant, the hotel’s new signature dining room; Le 1608 wine and cheese bar; and Le Sam bistro.

Renovation of the hotel’s meeting rooms and Salle de Bal has increased meeting and banquet capacity by 75%, with over 23 multifunctional rooms. All of the rooms feature technological infrastructure and offer views of the Dufferin Terrace or St. Lawrence River.

The project also saw the transformation of the common areas such as the main lobby, the reception desk and the grand Salon Rose stairway.

The hotel’s fitness centre area will also be expanded significantly in the next few weeks.

Other enhancements include the construction of the Spa du Château Frontenac with seven care and treatment rooms, and a renovated and expanded health club.
